Happy freezing New Year

Happy new year to all, whats happy about it, it's bloody freezing, this was the temp my car recorded, whilst driving past Matlock on Tuesday -11 deg C, and the other pics are the canal at Marple on Wednesday, obviously still frozen today, the ducks even look miserable.

It might take a few weeks for young Peter to sort out the paddle grip, but at least we've got until the ice melts!

Extreme cold kayaking

Hey all you fair weather paddlers, how many of you can say you have had your first paddle of 2009 on the 1st of Jan.
Robson and I did some "Extreme cold kayaking" today on the Goyt to work off the alcohol.
It was a "chilling" experience, as everything was frozen, our bouancy aids were solid and even the water droplets on your helmet. (see pic of Robson)
Around every corner was another breathtaking ice scene, it was truely spectacular.
